She Sparkles

When she cries.

Stopped by mom's last Saturday.  She'd just gotten back from being out with a good friend.  "I'll give you two some time together and come back." I said.  "No!, stay" Mom replied.  Ok, a bit adamant, but that's alright.

Her friend left after a few minutes, and mom asked about going to another location of her favorite craft store. Then her voice cracked. "She's gone already.  I just miss her." and her tears flowed freely.  She even sobbed a bit.  My sister had left mom's house for California the day before and mom missed her something fierce.

Earlier in the day mom showed her friend a great piece of fabric she purchased; deep blue velvet with sparkly stars.  Some of the sparkles came off the fabric and found their way to mom's cheeks and eyelashes.  So...when she cried, she sparkled - not only with tears but the deep love of a mother for her daughter.
