Craft Store Magic

Mom's favorite place in the WHOLE world these days is the craft store - it's magical.  Really.  You can make ANYTHING.  It's full of potential and fun.

As my sister mentioned earlier, mom sews.  She made a ton of our clothes when we were younger, clothes for herself too. Now, she has trouble comprehending patterns and instructions, but she is, in her own words "a fabric freak".  She's currently struggling with a table runner.  Mom cut the fabric into smaller pieces, I think she forgot what the original plan was, then, wanting to make a table runner sewed the small pieces back together.  Determined to make it and her brain work together.

So...I started to think ahead, of projects that would use fabric but not for sewing.  Something pretty she could make using the skill sets she currently has, something she could accomplish and be proud of - fabric covered boxes and picture frames could be fun.  She still wants to sew.  I won't discourage that. I'll just have projects waiting in the wings in case she wants to try it.  It's all about possibilities, creativity, alternatives, love and fun.
