Just Because You Made The Holiday Easy
Doesn't mean your loved one understands easy.
My sister and I have a saying that is, for us, about 75% true when it comes to mom: "New Is Bad."
Since her short term memory is shot, how well do we think she'll remember anything about anything that's new to her?
This Christmas we decided to get Honeybaked Ham Package dinners for both our parties this year. Easy Peasy as Dreamer says lol. Food was WONDERFUL by the way!
This did not stop mom from asking a million times "Do we have everything we need for dinner tonight (party was NOT that night)? This happened for 2 parties 1week apart. "I need to go to Kroger to get some things for dinner. How many people will be here tonight? (Also NOT that day either). When we picked out the meals I took them to my place so she would not mistake them for just another Wednesday night dinner for herself. THAT was the easy peasy part of the whole thing.
Then, the day of the party, she kept asking "Is there anything I can help with?" There were a few things, but I think we made it so easy she got figgity. Like there should be more to do, because that's how it always was and she really wanted to help. Other than table setting and warming things...nuthin ta do. Calm was new and perhaps not so calm as a result?.....
We had a lovely, calm, small Christmas Day dinner.
Family found a way to screw with the holiday as well as make it really special. It's been why we haven't blogged so much in the last week or so. We've been dealing ~ just like the rest of you this holiday season.
Stayed tuned for more holiday adventures lol!
